Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her stage title Ari Lennox is an American artist and singer hailing from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist signed to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP with the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet back in 2012 after she launched her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. The singer continued uploading her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. Sweat It is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21 2015. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's references. Later in the year, her music was circulating all over Dreamville. She officially was signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was also released on September 5th. She released her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. In November, 13, she released two additional singles titled No One as well as Pdigree. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album of the same name. In February the music video for this track debuted. The track has garnered more than three million YouTube views in just one week. In December 2018 she was an opening act for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
